Jess Coles is a writer and director. She got her start as a Production Assistant on several hit series, including House of Cards, Master of None, and High Maintenance. On nights & weekends she worked on her own projects, eventually teaching herself to shoot and edit. From there she entered the world of small, soup-to-nuts commercial production, making everything from music videos for House of Feelings to videos about antique silver for S.J. Shrubsole to shooting for documentarian Suzanne Rostock, and so much more. Jess received a nomination for Best Cinematography at the Nice International Film Festival for her work on Capsule, the Public Theater's award- winning experimental film by Whitney White and Peter Mark Kendall, which she also co- directed. Her festival circuit continued with two short films she directed, My Lovers Are a Collection of Books I'll Never Get Back, which she also wrote and edited, and The Decision, written by and starring Helen Cespedes. Currently, Jess is joining a growing conversation about how to tackle the climate crisis through storytelling, with a particular eye toward humans' relationship to nature. Narrative feature on the subject forthcoming.

Jess is a graduate of Vassar College with a BA in Women, Feminist and Queer Studies. A lifetime New Yorker, she is currently raising two cats in Brooklyn. Reach out at jtcoles6@gmail.com
